  Choosing The Right Puppy Name

Choosing the right name for your Puppy

To help you decide what to name your puppy, here are some tips, along with a list of popular dog names.

Wherever you get your dog from, you'll probably want to give him a name, unless he's older and is already used to his name. The names breeders give to puppies are often not very individual and not very practical. So you might want to give your puppy a new name that suits his personality. Remember, you and your dog will have to live with the name for a lifetime!

But apart from personality, there are other things to consider; for example, a small St. Bernard puppy will grow up to become a giant – so a cute "little" name might not apply!

Your dog will like names that contain the vowels A and O, with not more than two syllables, like the classic Buddy and Rocky. A name for a dog should be easy to understand for the animal, and shouldn't sound harsh. It's the sound that's important for the dog, not the meaning.

The trick is to give your puppy a name that's a hint to his personality.
